Mapping Leaders Forum: Day 2 Presenters
Dr. Aileen Buckley is a cartographer, researcher, writer, and public speaker. She holds a Ph.D. in Geography from Oregon State University. Prior to joining Esri in 2003, she worked in the Cartographic Division of National Geographic Society and was on the faculty at University of Oregon. She is a co-author of Map Use, 9th Edition, and she chairs the ICA Commission on Ethics in Cartography. As a Senior GIS Engineer on the Living Atlas team at Esri, she determines and shares best practices for mapping and analysis with ArcGIS. This leads her to publish extensively and present world-wide on a broad range of topics relating to mapping with modern GIS.
Mark Cygan is Esri’s Director National Mapping Solutions, working with National Mapping, Land Administration, Imagery and Statistical Geospatial Authorities. Mark has over 36 years of experience working in GIS and mapping, including management positions at Esri, NAVTEQ (now HERE) and Rand McNally & Co. and Cartography Dept. in the Automobile Club of Southern California. Mark is on the board of directors of the International Map Industry Association, actively participating on the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), board member of UN-GGIM Geospatial Societies, and Executive Secretary of the User Community for Geospatial Authorities
Georg Gartner is a Professor of Cartography at the Vienna University of Technology and head of the Research Unit Cartography. He is currently president of the International Cartographic Association (ICA). He was Dean for Academic Affairs for Geodesy and Geoinformation at Vienna University of Technology. He is responsible organizer of the International Symposia on Location Based Services and EuroCarto and Editor of the Book Series “Lecture Notes on Geoinformation and Cartography” by Springer and Editor of the Journal on LBS by Taylor & Francis. He serves as President of the Austrian Cartographic Commission, as Vice-President of the Austrian Society of Geodesy and Geoinformation and is a member of the Academic Network of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management.
