IMIA’s first Points of Interest session

IMIA’s new members-only webinar series, Points of Interest, kicked off last Thursday with its first session dedicated to e-commerce.

Industry experts Christian Baudchon, Founder at Cartovia, and Mani Singh, CEO and Founder at NextByte Technologies, explored how independent e-commerce sites are driving traffic and growth beyond Amazon, with a focus on real-world SEO and non-marketplace strategies. The conversation also examined how search and discoverability are evolving in an AI-driven world — and what that means for visibility, sustainability, and success moving forward. This session was moderated by Bridger DeVille, Sales Director at East View Map Link.

Each Points of Interest session spotlights a timely topic through short presentations and Q&A with leading voices from IMIA’s global network, followed by small-group breakout discussions that encourage connection, exchange, and collaboration among IMIA members and partners worldwide.

Welcome New Members

The Historic Towns Trust is a small British charity (CIO 1160040) that creates and publishes original historical maps and atlases of Britain’s towns and cities.

Their publications combine professional cartography with detailed historical research to chart the development of the town or city, either in a series of period maps in the atlases or as single-sheet, multi-period maps published individually. All use a digitised OS base. The common scale (1:2500), style, and conventions ensure easy comparison from town to town. They are produced in partnership with local experts and funded largely from local fundraising efforts; new maps are accompanied by a programme of educational outreach to local schools. Learn more about The Historic Towns Trust..

Terralandria is a tourism information initiative focused on improving how people decide where to go and what to see, rather than simply how to get there. The project grew out of firsthand travel experience and the observation that modern digital maps excel at navigation but often fail to convey landscape, scale, and opportunity in a way that inspires informed travel choices.

Terralandria is not a mapping studio in the traditional sense. Instead, it aims to act as a platform and framework that brings together the strengths of many cartographers, artists, local experts, and data providers. The long-term vision is a globally consistent, high-quality tourism information system that combines topography, visual storytelling, and local knowledge in forms suitable for both digital and print use.
