2019 was a great year for mapping and for the International Map Industry Association! Throughout this year we accomplished several goals including the successful joining of our international regions into a single body, which broadens our membership engagement and is adding more collaborative international events to the association’s future.

Our Meetups in Washington, D.C. and Denver were very successful. These educational events allowed attendees a valuable first look at emerging products and new technologies, along with several opportunities to engage with industry leaders and expand business networks and activity. Our collective stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair was very successful again this year, with members from several continents exhibiting their mapping businesses and coordinating a beehive of business meetings and social events. At all of these events IMIA gained several new and returning members and sponsors.

Looking ahead to 2020, there is much on the horizon. We have revamped our Meetups and are looking forward to kicking off our first D.C. Mapping Leaders Forum at the Esri R&D Center on January 30. On March 9, we are hosting a reception for members and recruits at the world-renowned Stanfords London. Our Denver Mapping Leaders Forum is set for June 18 at The Source Hotel, a new and fascinating venue. In October, we will return to the Frankfurt Book Fair, a favorite hub for international map and publishing activity and offering our members another opportunity to showcase their companies at our collective stand. We are also growing our affiliations with like-minded organizations, so keep an eye out for IMIA engagement at other mapping events.

Thank you again to our dedicated members, sponsors, board, and committees for making 2019 a successful and transformative year for IMIA.

Seasons greetings and safe travels to all!
