Recap of the Frankfurt Book Fair

Once again IMIA hosted a collective stand of enthusiastic co-exhibitors, all esteemed IMIA member organizations. Their time at the Frankfurt Book Fair was marked by a busy schedule of business meetings mixed with networking opportunities, making it an excellent platform for sharing insights and forging new connections within the map industry.

Social Highlights

Wednesday Whisky Reception: IMIA hosted a whisky tasting at the collective stand, an homage to past years when our Scottish map ambassadors hosted a similar event.

IMIA Member Dinner Sponsored by Dennis Maps: The IMIA Member Dinner, generously sponsored by Dennis Maps, provided a delightful evening of networking and social interaction. This dinner was an opportunity for members to unwind, share stories, and strengthen their connections in a relaxed setting.

These social events added a celebratory and warm atmosphere to the IMIA event, reinforcing the sense of community and camaraderie among participants.

Annual Map Design Competition is Open

The Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS)</a> is pleased to announce the 52nd Annual Map Design Competition, open to all mapmakers in the United States and Canada for maps completed or published during 2024.

The purpose of the competition is to promote interest in map design and recognize significant design advances in cartography. The focus of this competition is design; therefore, judging is based on cartographic design criteria, such as creativity, text (including spelling and grammar), balance, unity, visual hierarchy, clarity, use of color, and subject matter.

Entry is free for all. Submissions are due by January 31, 2025.

Stanfords Map of the Month

European Rail Map

This is the 3rd edition of the map which includes the latest high-speed routes and updates. This map seeks to show all passenger rail routes in Europe (other than those of the suburban networks of major cities) and is the ideal companion to the European Rail Timetable.

Important Tourist Railways are also shown, many of which operate only during the tourist season.

Australia Big Things Map
